Why Camp & RV?         ** One price for iOS: iPad/iPhone/iPod ** And now on Android **

Search "allstays" in the store on your phone

** Coming soon to Windows netbooks/computers via AppUp (Intel, Best Buy, Dell, etc) **

If you've gone camping, you've probably used a lot of books and websites, maybe some info on GPS units. And you've probably been frustrated. The goal of this app is to be the best camping app made for the iPhone. It is made by a full time travel website where lodging is a focus. It is not made by just a full time app developer company that is looking for a way to make a quick buck. If you've bought other camping apps, you may have noticed that most have come and gone, to never be updated again or even work right at all. The only way to do it well is with a passion. So yeah, there will be glitches or mistakes once in a while. The scope and ambition of the info provided is large. But any issues will be corrected, usually as fast as the app review process will allow it. I am working on a new process to make updates on a weekly basis instead of monthly.

Because one way to search for camping is not enough, Camp & RV provides two ways. This makes for a complex app that does a lot but it is also simple to use in each way.

Map view: This uses GPS and maps to plot all places. Starting from your current iPhone location, you can zoom out and in to anywhere in the USA. This mode shows everything. Then you can filter the map to view only what you want. If you don't RV, you may want to filter out all the RV dealers.

City lookup: View text info by state and city. Filter city names to only show those towns with a KOA, State Parks, etc. You can also use this for Walmarts: Parking or no parking, gas or diesel.

**iPhone is required for full GPS functionality & phone calls. App includes a manual city look up mode that works on all devices and does not require service.**

What's in it right now:

*Every point has coordinates, address or directions and phone numbers. Now over 90% of them have amenities and official website links.

*16,825 campgrounds. KOA, Private, State Parks, National Parks, BLM, National Forest, Army Corps of Engineers. Even primitive hike-in/boat-in spots. Expanded details for most of them.

*Walmart (with Parking and No Parking noted with frequent on-site reports.)

*Overnight Parking like casinos and other options.

*2,800 Truck Stops with amenities, if RVs are welcome, and what else is nearby.

*Sam's Club and Costco

*Outdoor Supply Stores (Camping World, REI, Cabelas, Gander Mountain, Dicks, Bass Pro Shops)

*1760 RV dealers and service places

*2,455 Rest Areas, Welcome centers, turn outs, service plazas, and scenic vistas broken down by heading. Only heading northbound? You can filter Rest Areas and Turnouts by the direction you are heading. Filter by RV dumps or wifi. A detail view lists amenities like restrooms, picnic tables, vending machines, pet-friendly, RV dump, handicap accessible, security and even wi-fi. (Changing fast with budget cuts)

*After ten years of working with campgrounds, we've heard about a few real nasty ones and left those out.

Why else do you need this app? You probably planned your destination and any extended stay spots. (Or if you travel like us, maybe you don't plan at all.) You don't always plan every stop along the way, so you get out your heavy books and maps, many of them just list places with which they make business deals. This independent app does not feature or hide any place based on fees or corporate ties.

The Camp & RV data is stored on your phone, so constantly calling upon a website for information is not necessary. This is great for improving speed when you’re in rural areas or otherwise out of range for decent cell phone or internet access.

It uses Google Maps to display up to 150 points of interest on a map at one time. Filter/zoom all over for exactly what you want.

Don’t take even one more trip without Camp & RV, the ultimate outdoor travel app. It will be improved often and requests are taken seriously. If you are not completely satisfied or think of something to improve it, just use the contact form in the app. Let us know what would make it even better for you. You will get a real reply and usually within a few hours. From http://www.allstays.com, providing camping data for ten years running.

** This app is a full time project built for campers by campers and not just developers. **

New for 3.0

-Full iPad support
-Version 3.0 is a completely new version of the app for iPad, iPhone and iPods. It also is coming out on Android. The new version is built for all devices. Although certain features need GPS, the app still provides offline data and reference material at all times. Read more about why the major changes in my FAQ.
-Canada: Over 2,000 places added. The data is all there but they are not broken down by various types like private or national park as of yet. That is coming soon.
-More data for stores that RVers tend to like and ask for: Sam's Club and Costco.
-LPG sellers. Some of these are completely public and some are restricted access. Check each point and call to ask.
-Smaller size means the app can be downloaded anywhere once again.

*Data is not just a part time or annual project. Data is updated regularly on a full time basis as it is also used on a 10 year old travel website.

*** PLEASE NOTE ***

iPad users : Nov 26, 2010: Apple released their 4.2 version. This update disabled the following buttons in all of our apps: Map zooms, directions, website and update. The app data is still displayed, maps can be moved by pinches and movements and everything else works. We are working on figuring out the problem. In the meantime, and based on reports all over the web about other apps having problems as well, I would recommend not updating your iPad yet. Or possibly rolling back to the previous version if you still can.

iPhone/iPod users : Sep 30, 2010: Version 3.0 is a new version of the app for iPad, iPhone and iPods. It also is just out on Android. The new version is built for all devices. Although certain features need GPS, the app still provides offline data and reference material at all times.

Android: The Android map can be rather slow, even non-functional with a lot of points loaded at once. Therefore, the max number of points shown on the map is less. The app works best and it's full potential if you "FILTER" for what you are looking for. Select only the various campgrounds types or Walmarts or rest areas or truck stops if that is what you are looking for at the time. Leaving the default setting wide open just doesn't perform well and I am working on it. You will need to zoom in more to see more places in any particular area.

If you have any questions or technical issues, please send me a note from the app or contact me at iexit AT allstays.com

Views below for 3.0 only. It is a rebuild for both iPad/iPhone/iPods and the Android version has the same functions and look.
